Exciting Announcements! Audio, Slow Heat, and Surprises to come! #gay #romance

March 11, 2017 by Leta

Hello! Long time, no blog. But I’m back with some wonderful announcements that I can’t wait to share with you.

  1. AUDIOBOOKS ARE COMING! – After a confidence-busting false start and more angst than I’d anticipated, I’m incredibly excited to let you know that audiobooks are in the works for Training Season and the Wake Up Married serial.Michael Ferraiuolo will be narrating Training Season. He’s the voice behind the audio of Santino Hassell’s First and First and Sunset Park, amongst many others. I’m excited to see what he can do with the bratty Matty Marcus.
    *
A newcomer to the field of gay romance, Jason Mitchell, of Voiceovers 911, will be narrating the Wake Up Married serial. His Patrick was utterly perfection, exactly what I hear in my head when I’m writing Patrick, and so after discussing things and working the financial aspect out, it was a no-brainer to make an offer. I was thrilled when he accepted and I can’t wait to see what he does with this serial!

I want to thank all patrons over at Patreon for making this monetarily possible. And I want to thank my $5+ patrons especially, for holding my hand while I fretted and worried, and for listening and giving their opinions on the various audio auditions. As a reminder, a $5 pledge on Patreon gives readers access to my entire back catalogue of books, access to new books for as long as they are a patron, and all kinds of extras and goodies. The $10 pledge gets all that plus access to any audiobooks produced for as long as they remain a patron. We have a lot of fun over there. 🙂

  2. SLOW HEAT IS ALMOST READY TO GO TO THE EDITOR! – My next release, a non-shifter omegaverse book is nearly ready to go to the beta readers and the editor. My personal deadline is to have it out to them within the next five days. (Another reminder that patrons at the $10 level will be offered beta reading opportunities. Not a requirement, mind you! Because beta reading means getting a less than quality book and giving critics to turn it into a quality book, and that’s not everyone’s bag! But it’s an option.) I just need to go over it really thoroughly one more time and then off it will go to find out all the ways it sucks. 🙂
  3. SURPRISES TO COME! – There is going to be a surprise coming to my Patreon in the next month or so. I’m not going to say much about it yet, because it’s still in the percolating phase. But let’s just say that I’ve had Dar Albert do something with this little picture to help promote the endeavor when the time comes, and we’ll leave it at that. It will be available to $1 pledges and up. Oh, and there might be a very grumpy doctor and a diabetic do-gooder involved in the storyline.

Episode One: Will & Patrick Wake Up Married

After a drunken night of hot sex in Vegas, strangers Will Patterson and Dr. Patrick McCloud wake up married. A quickie divorce is the most obvious way out—unless you’re the heir of a staunchly Catholic mafia boss with a draconian position on the sanctity of marriage. Throw their simmering attraction into the mix and all bets are off!

Episode Two: Will & Patrick Meet the Family

Meeting the family is challenging for every new couple. But for Will and Patrick, the awkward family moments only grow more hilarious–and painful–when they must hide the truth of their predicament from the people they care about most. Throw in the sexual tension flaring between them and you’ve got a recipe for madcap laughs and surprisingly heartwarming feels.

Episode Three: Will & Patrick Do the Holidays

A couple’s first holiday season is always a special time. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve are magical when you’re in love. Too bad Will and Patrick’s marriage is a sham and they’re only faking their affection for each other. Or are they? Sparks fly in this episode of the Wake Up Married serial. Will the sexual tension between Will and Patrick finally explode in a needy night of passion? Or will they continue to deny their feelings?

S'up with Leta Blake? Let's Catch Up! Part Two!

July 26, 2016 by Leta

What do I have planned for the upcoming twelve months? Let’s start with the next thing on my plate!

  1. In September, I’ll be releasing Pictures of You, Book One of my four part ’90s Coming of Age series. My current plan is to release it into KU and only put it out at the other retailers once all the parts are out. I have a cover for it already (and for every book in the series!) but I’m not going to share until closer to release dates. A girl has to have some mystery!

The Sunsphere. Icon of Knoxville, the setting of the '90s Coming of Age series.
The Sunsphere. Icon of Knoxville, the setting of the ’90s Coming of Age series.

2. TRANSLATION NEWS! For those of you who would like to read my books in German, French, or Italian, more translations will be coming out soon! In September, Vespertine will be released in French and the first three books of the Wake Up Married serial will be released in German, and December sees the release of The River Leith in Italian! Currently available translations are:

French: Saison d’entraînement, Le Retour de Leith, and À l’ombre de Smoky Mountain.

Italian: Training Season: La stagione dell’allenamento

Spanish: Sueños en las Montañas Humeantes

3. Wake Up Married universe news. Healing, South Dakota will definitely see more releases. I have ideas for three books in this universe within the next year or so. I won’t say much more except to say that, yes, we’ll see one new book with Will & Patrick as the leads (though probably not the first to be released!) and two books with side characters from the first serial getting their own stories. For those of you worried about Hartley, hold tight. For those of you curious about Varun, it’s coming. For those of you who want to see Uncle Kevin get his happy ending, that might happen, too.

Thank you to all the readers out there! You are my joy and inspiration!

Stuck between a rock and a hard place, Will and Patrick don’t like it, or each other, but they have to make the best of it until they can find another way out of their marriage. To ensure the trust fund Will’s charitable foundation relies on isn’t revoked by his mobster grandfather, he and Patrick travel to Will’s hometown of Healing, South Dakota, posing as a newlywed couple in the throes of true love at first sight.

Complicating their scheme are Will’s unresolved feelings for his all-too-recent ex-boyfriend Ryan, and Patrick’s desire to get back to the only thing that really matters to him in life: neurosurgery. Will they fool everyone? Or will the mafia get wind that their marriage is a fake? Throw their simmering attraction into the mix and all bets are off!

Why aren't Wake Up Married & Fight Their Feelings in KU with the other books in the Wake Up Married serial?

April 24, 2016 by Leta

The Wake Up Married serial is FINALLY complete! All of the episodes are available on Amazon currently and several bundle options will be released in the next few weeks.

Originally, due to the wait between episodes, etc, my co-writer and I chose to make them available in Kindle Unlimited to make it easier and more cost effective for people to follow along. If I had my druthers, I would leave the entire serial in KU for another month, but due to Amazon’s requirement that each KU agreement last for 90 days, I’ve had to choose between pulling out the books as they end their most recent 90 day cycle, or commit to another three months. I chose to pull the books as they end their current cycles because:

  1. There are some readers who have been waiting patiently for the books to come to other platforms, like All Romance Ebooks or Barnes & Noble or iTunes.
  2. It will be easier for us to apply Kindle Unlimited effectively in the future if we can free all of the books entirely, and then resubmit them later this year so they will all have the same end date at the same time.

Which means that currently, every book in the serial except for Wake Up Married and Fight Their Feelings are in Kindle Unlimited for at least a few more weeks. The end date for the remaining books are:

Meet the Family: 5/8

Do the Holidays: 5/22

Fight Their Feelings: out of Kindle Unlimited now, but not on other vendors yet; I’ll wait until the others are released so it will be available in order

Meet the Mob: 6/1

Happy Ending: 6/13

My plan is to have the books out to other vendors as soon as possible. I’m also discussing with Amazon currently whether or not pre-orders for the books on other vendor sites violates the Kindle Unlimited agreement, so long as the books aren’t actually released until the KU term is up.

As of today, Wake Up Married is available on All Romance Ebooks (ARe)! And will soon be available at B&N, Kobo, iTunes, Scribd and more. (This reminds me that I need to add it to Smashwords today, too. So much to do!) I’ll put out another message when the book is available on those platforms.

Today, I wanted to take the time to explain why WUM and FTF are not available on Kindle Unlimited with the other books. This could be frustrating for some readers, I understand, but I want to emphasize that it is not meant to be. It’s frustrating to me, too! I wish Amazon offered either a month long option for Kindle Unlimited or that they didn’t require exclusivity at all to participate in that program. Regardless, things worked out the way they have, and so this is the result. We’ll get all the books out of KU and out to other vendors as soon as possible.

In the meantime, thank you so much for your ongoing support and love for this series! Our readers are the best!

"OMG this book was so good!" Review: Will & Patrick Wake Up Married by Leta Blake & Alice Griffiths

March 28, 2016 by Leta

wake-up-married-banner-1

“OMG this book was so good!
Okay Patrick and Will meet each other one night while both of them are drunk in Vegas. Well one thing leads to another and they wake up in the morning married and sore due to the massive amounts of sex they had. Can I just say I loved Patrick’s character so much. He was just so snarky, so many times the things he would say in this book had me laughing to the point I had tears in my eyes.
So due to reasons that are beyond Will’s control they have to stay married until they can figure a way out of their marriage. So many things happen in this book that I was either laughing or feeling sad for Will because of what Ryan does to him. I loved the way the authors wrote these characters and the whole pretense of this story. So I don’t want to give away any spoilers because this book you have got to read for yourself, it was just so good! I can not wait to read the next one to see what these two characters Patrick and Will are up to next.
So all together I loved this book!
I would definitely recommend this book!

I received this book free in exchange for an honest review from Inked Rainbow Reads.”

Leta Blake's Writing/Publishing Plans for 2016: ALL THE BOOKS! #amwriting #2016

January 17, 2016 by Leta

The Sunsphere. Icon of Knoxville, the setting of the 90s Coming of Age series.
The Sunsphere. Icon of Knoxville, the setting of the 90s Coming of Age series.

As I sit in the lobby of our local ice skating rink, waiting while kiddo and her pal skate, I’m being forced to listen to the most uncool playlist of 80s pop songs I’ve heard in a long time. I think my mother did Jazzercise to most of these, though, and so I have a certain fondness for them despite not really feeling the need to ever hear any of them again

I brought my laptop with me with the intention of getting some writing done, only to realize that I don’t have access to my Dropbox from here. Poor planning on my part. So, instead, I’m going to finally type up my writing plans/goals for 2016. Yes, that’s me burying the lede again. I’m good at that.

Wake Up Married serial. Episodes 4-6 will be released in the early months of this year. Pre-orders are available already for Will & Patrick Fight Their Feelings and Will & Patrick Meet the Mob. The final installment, Will & Patrick’s Happy Ending, is not available for pre-order yet, but it has a Goodreads page. We are doing our best to be as timely as possible with them. Each installment of this serial is between 30,000 and 40,000 words in length.

I’m excited by the reception these episodes have received already despite the general consensus that serials aren’t most readers’ favorite way to receive their story. I do think the serialized format fits this particular storyline, though, and these guys. I’m excited to wrap it up and have the entire set out there for readers

composite_14530749584677

How to Steal a Heart. A stand-alone art heist novel inspired by the movie How to Steal a Million. This book has been building in my head for about four years now. I’ve read tons of books about art thieves, art heists, art con artists, etc, and I feel like I’m ready to finally tackle it. I’m pretty excited for this one! I hope to have it out early in the summer, but it might take a backseat to the next items on this list if necessary, because they are where the bulk of my writing/publishing plans rest for this year. My goal for release is May or June 2016. But if I can’t make that due date, then we’re looking at Spring 2017 instead.

The next set of releases are books made up of pieces of my heart. Their titles are: Pictures of You, You Are Not Me, You Make It Real, and Never Tear Us Apart. Also known as The 90s Coming of Age series.

I started writing these books back before I knew I shouldn’t.

Yep, I started them in 2004, when writing a book set in 1991 didn’t seem like I was writing about a different world altogether. I wrote what I knew and mixed it with what I didn’t know, because that was the advice we’re all given to start. I wrote about a time before 9/11 when a non-practicing Jewish boy in Knoxville, Tennessee could be in love with a non-practicing Arab boy from “all over the world” and the issue of religion/race is the least important problem they face.

I wrote about emotional abuse. I wrote about being in the closet. I wrote about beards. I wrote about a world where first love doesn’t always mean last love. (But it’s me so there is a happy ending for the main character.) I wrote about a world where AIDS was still tearing down any sense of safety gay men might have ever created for themselves. I wrote about graduating high school and going to college. I wrote about all kinds of things that don’t fit what anyone expects from me as a writer or from novels in this genre because I didn’t know any better.

But my beta readers tell me they love these characters and this world. They tell me I have to put the books out. And to be honest, these books have taken up space in my head long enough. If I don’t publish them and let them be free, if I don’t let them go out in the world to face readers who will love them and hate them and whatever other reception they get, then I’ll feel like I let them down. I don’t want to do that. I want them to have their chance. So, yes, Peter, Adam, Leslie, Daniel, Minty, Renee, and all the rest will be out this fall. Releases expected as follows:

August: Pictures of You
September: You Are Not Me
October: You Make It Real
November: Never Tear Us Apart
December/January 2017: Box Sets of the above books

Middle Grade Christmas Book: I promised my ten year old daughter to write a Middle Grade book for her, and I intend to keep that promise. Her present for next Christmas will be the book she and I planned/plotted together. I’ll release it under another name, obviously, but I’ll let my readers here know about it when I put it out.

My last tentatively planned book of 2016, one that I’d love to release in December if possible, is an unnamed Christmas story. I honestly have my doubts that I’ll get it done in time, and if I don’t feel like it’s going to happen, I’ll probably shift my focus from it to the Mail Order Bride story that I hope to have out in early 2017. We’ll see how it goes. I always like to bite off a bit more than I can chew. It keeps me constantly striving. I have a terror of being lazy, so planning for more than I can accomplish is one way I keep myself from slacking off too much.

These are the books I’m looking at putting out for 2016. I hope you’re as excited by this list as I am and I hope you can make room in your heart to give the 90s Coming of Age series a try even if it’s different from what you might otherwise expect from me. 🙂 Here’s to a publication packed year!

"What really surprised me was the emotional punch to what could have been simply a silly story." Review: Wake Up Married Serial Episodes 1-3

“These men are both tangled messes of contradictions and self-defeating misconceptions; and yet they are also (at least to me) irresistible. What really surprised me was the emotional punch to what could have been simply a silly story.

A new episode is promised in January of 2016, and I definitely want to read more about Will and Patrick.”

“If you need an antidote to life’s travails, this is the story and series for you!” 5 Stars for Wake Up Married series by Leta Blake & Alice Griffiths #gay

“This wonderfully humorous take on an old romance trope of winding up married unintentionally in Vegas was just what I needed to lift my spirits. I loved that the two MCs were both good looking but with serious character flaws. Will is an alcoholic with very low self-esteem and diabetes on top of all that. Patrick has no people skills (or so he says) but as a surgeon he does not believe he needs them. They are dynamite in bed, but as strangers who can’t get a quickie divorce, they must learn to live together. I devoured this story in one sitting and went on to enjoy the next two in the series as well. If you need an antidote to life’s travails, this is the story and series for you!”

“This book had me laughing to the point I had tears in my eyes.” Review: Will & Patrick Wake Up Married by Leta Blake & Alice Griffiths

October 30, 2015 by Leta

NOW AVAILABLE! Will & Patrick Wake Up Married! A new rom-com by Leta Blake & Alice Griffiths

Join the fun in this vibrant first installment of the new romantic comedy serial by best-selling author Leta Blake and newcomer Alice Griffiths!

Episode 1 of 6 in the Wake Up Married serial.
