"I might have missed a great book." Flight by Leta Blake #gay #fairytale
“The story was fanciful and in some places kind of bizarre but I enjoyed it immensely. I did not read the blurbs about it before I read it so I had no idea what to expect. I think if I had, that I might have missed a great book.

"Beautiful story told with sensitivity and grace." Reviews: Smoky Mountain Dreams by Leta Blake
“Beautiful story told with sensitivity and grace. A difficult subject approached with truth and honesty while including lots of hot m/m romance. I can’t decide who I love best. Would love to see where their story goes from here.”

After a drunken night of hot sex in Vegas, strangers Will Patterson and Dr. Patrick McCloud wake up married. A quickie divorce is the most obvious way out—unless you’re the heir of a staunchly Catholic mafia boss with a draconian position on the sanctity of marriage.
Stuck between a rock and a hard place, Will and Patrick don’t like it, or each other, but they have to make the best of it until they can find another way out of their marriage. To ensure the trust fund Will’s charitable foundation relies on isn’t revoked by his mobster grandfather, he and Patrick travel to Will’s hometown of Healing, South Dakota, posing as a newlywed couple in the throes of true love at first sight.
Complicating their scheme are Will’s unresolved feelings for his all-too-recent ex-boyfriend Ryan, and Patrick’s desire to get back to the only thing that really matters to him in life: neurosurgery. Will they fool everyone? Or will the mafia get wind that their marriage is a fake? Throw their simmering attraction into the mix and all bets are off!

"There is no way to make this any better. Just do yourself a favor and read it." Review of Vespertine by Leta Blake & Indra Vaughn
“This is an absolute must read! So, so many good things can be said about this. The angst and love is out of this world. Nicky is so broken and Jazz is just the absolute best. There is no way to make this any better. Just do yourself a favor and read it.”

Can a priest and a rock star obey love’s call?
Seventeen years ago, Jasper Hendricks and Nicholas Blumfeld’s childhood friendship turned into a secret, blissful love affair. They spent several idyllic months together until Jasper’s calling to the Catholic priesthood became impossible to ignore. Left floundering, Nicky followed his own trajectory into rock stardom, but he never stopped looking back.
Today, Jasper pushes boundaries as an out, gay priest, working hard to help vulnerable LGBTQ youth. He’s determined to bring change to the church and the world. Respected, admired, and settled in his skin, Jasper has long ignored his loneliness.
As Nico Blue, guitarist and songwriter for the band Vespertine, Nicky owns the hearts of millions. He and his bandmates have toured the world, lighting their fans on fire with their music. Numbed by drugs and fueled by simmering anger, Nicky feels completely alone. When Vespertine is forced to get sober, Nicky returns home to where it all started.
Jasper and Nicky’s careers have ruled their lives since they parted as teens. When they come face to face again, they must choose between the past’s lingering ghosts or the promise of a new future.
Bad Reputation: A Queen City Boys Book by Ajax Bell COMING SOON!
Does Seattle give a damn about his past reputation?
After being caught in a backseat tryst with the mayor’s son, twenty-one-year-old Shane Fontaine is exiled from his small hometown. Now, alone in the city, he seeks solace in punk show mosh pits and bathhouse saunas.
But the music scene and gay community in 1982 recession-era Seattle aren’t always safe. Rescued from a brutal beating by a Russian engineering student, Shane forms a friendship that launches a confounding set of traumatic and ecstatic encounters.
Shane’s quest for human connection sends him down dark, dangerous streets. To survive, he must become the man who chooses to persist, to do the right thing and stand up for others.
This close-up portrait of pre-AIDS Seattle illuminates dark corners, where homeless kids cluster for safety near the revitalized Pike Place Market. Bad Reputation contrasts the deeply personal need for friendship with the universal dilemma: people aren’t always what they seem.

"Elegant story-telling. I couldn't put this one down." Review of The River Leith by Leta Blake
“Elegant story-telling. I couldn’t put this one down. As would be expected with a story about a man with amnesia, there’s a lot of introspection and revisits to the past, yet it never once felt like the story had stagnated. In fact, the pace was so right, measured. Loved every word.”
via Goodreads | Lane Swift’s review of The River Leith.

Giving Myself Permission to Play

I’ve set myself up with a lot of really difficult goals for this year and I’ve just completed one of them: finishing up the Wake Up Married serial. I have to finalize the pre-sale of the Episodes 1-6 bundle, but, otherwise, that project is in the can. My business plan tells me that the next thing on my plate is another huge project (know as the ’90s Coming of Age series) and I do want to work on that.
However, today I was hit by two incredibly fun plot bunnies. After spending several hours forcing myself to ignore them and work on what was on my “to do” list for my big project, I realized that I was dragging my feet and being less productive that I might otherwise be. Eventually, I said, “Screw it. I’ll just make a few notes about these book ideas.” Next thing I knew, entire scenes were showing up, and I was scrambling to get words down. I wrote 3,000 words today on a project that isn’t what I’m supposed to be working on.
At first, I was castigating myself. “You’re wasting time, Leta. You’re supposed to be focusing on the next big thing on the plan.” But suddenly I had a glimpse of myself as a friend would see me and I realized, “Hold up. You’ve been working your ass off for a really long time. You deserve a play break.”
Don’t get me wrong. I’ve had a great time writing the Wake Up Married serial, and before that Vespertine, and before that Training Complex, and before that Smoky Mountain Dreams. But the thing is, ever since Smoky Mountain Dreams, I’ve been working on something I’m supposed to be working on instead of something that has just appeared in my mind like a gift from the gods. As I put it to a friend, “There is a big difference between that thrilling sensation of creating something while in the throes of inspiration and writing something and thinking, ‘Good thing this is fun, because it’s also really hard work.'”

So, yes, I decided that for two weeks I’m going to allow myself to play. I can write whatever I want. Two weeks will not matter in the scheme of the big project I’m doing this fall. Not even a whit. But if I remain as excited and eager to work on these two new ideas, I could make a large dent in them over two weeks. It’s unlikely I’d finish anything, but getting something started means there’s something to come back to finish up later.
Anyway, yeah. Permission to play. I’m granting it to myself.

“Blake and Griffiths have taken a silly old chestnut of a premise and managed to turn it into a surprisingly powerful mix of naughtiness and emotional oomph. Why aren't Wake Up Married & Fight Their Feelings in KU with the other books in the Wake Up Married serial?
The Wake Up Married serial is FINALLY complete! All of the episodes are available on Amazon currently and several bundle options will be released in the next few weeks.
Originally, due to the wait between episodes, etc, my co-writer and I chose to make them available in Kindle Unlimited to make it easier and more cost effective for people to follow along. If I had my druthers, I would leave the entire serial in KU for another month, but due to Amazon’s requirement that each KU agreement last for 90 days, I’ve had to choose between pulling out the books as they end their most recent 90 day cycle, or commit to another three months. I chose to pull the books as they end their current cycles because:
- There are some readers who have been waiting patiently for the books to come to other platforms, like All Romance Ebooks or Barnes & Noble or iTunes.
- It will be easier for us to apply Kindle Unlimited effectively in the future if we can free all of the books entirely, and then resubmit them later this year so they will all have the same end date at the same time.
Which means that currently, every book in the serial except for Wake Up Married and Fight Their Feelings are in Kindle Unlimited for at least a few more weeks. The end date for the remaining books are:
Meet the Family: 5/8
Do the Holidays: 5/22
Fight Their Feelings: out of Kindle Unlimited now, but not on other vendors yet; I’ll wait until the others are released so it will be available in order
Meet the Mob: 6/1
Happy Ending: 6/13
My plan is to have the books out to other vendors as soon as possible. I’m also discussing with Amazon currently whether or not pre-orders for the books on other vendor sites violates the Kindle Unlimited agreement, so long as the books aren’t actually released until the KU term is up.
As of today, Wake Up Married is available on All Romance Ebooks (ARe)! And will soon be available at B&N, Kobo, iTunes, Scribd and more. (This reminds me that I need to add it to Smashwords today, too. So much to do!) I’ll put out another message when the book is available on those platforms.
Today, I wanted to take the time to explain why WUM and FTF are not available on Kindle Unlimited with the other books. This could be frustrating for some readers, I understand, but I want to emphasize that it is not meant to be. It’s frustrating to me, too! I wish Amazon offered either a month long option for Kindle Unlimited or that they didn’t require exclusivity at all to participate in that program. Regardless, things worked out the way they have, and so this is the result. We’ll get all the books out of KU and out to other vendors as soon as possible.
In the meantime, thank you so much for your ongoing support and love for this series! Our readers are the best!

Walk a Mile in Someone's Shoes
“All you are doing is segregating a group of people, who honestly, would protect your child if they saw something wrong going on. I would beat a MAN that would be going after a child in the women’s room and I know my trans brothers would do the same in the men’s room. I have nieces and nephews that I would die for and I would protect your child too. Putting me in a men’s restroom does not protect you BUT it does hurt us. Please get your head out of the clouds in thinking that these disgraceful laws are going to protect your child. That is a weak excuse to allow bigotry to keep on going. If you want to keep you children away from child molesters and perverts then you might as well put them in a bubble at home because these laws are not going to do it. ”
A fantastic and very real post. Thank you to Xena and to Margaret for sharing it.
